Now this is summer. Temperatures in the mid to high 20s, just a few clouds in the sky ... and that feeling of relief that one's vacation will not be for, well, naught.
Gardening like mad today. Beds have been raised, turf has been unturfed, tree has been planted and more fun to come. We're taking our friend Jonathan Crowe's advice on raised beds, which he got from Wilf Nicholls at the Botanical Garden, and constructed a simple rectangle using 2x8s, in eight-foot and three-foot lengths. We put in some newspapers on the bottom to prevent weed growth, and will be mixing some soil with compost shortly. We'll see. In the meantime, here's an article I found that was also helpful reading.
Some housekeeping. A debrief I did with Ted Blades on the underbelly of low-carb diets aired Tuesday on On The Go with Ted Blades, and I'll be back on Radio Noon's Crosstalk on Friday. Guest host Ingrid Fraser and I will, of course, be talking trivia. Phone in and stump us ... believe me, it is not that hard at all!
