The St. John's local of the Canadian Media Guild has posted photographs and information about Thursday's picket at Signal Hill, where an independent company hired by the CBC is planning to broadcast images for Friday's Terry Fox anniversary.

CBC employees in St. John's had been planning for the broadcast before the CBC locked out members of the Canadian Media Guild - which represents the vast majority of its employees. The same workers had been involved in April's broadcast of the 25th anniversary of the start of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.
The work for the Sept. 16 brodcast from St. John's was turned over to an outside company, which has approached retired CBC staff to work as crew. The CMG has said that move constitutes unfair labour practice.
The picket line, which has prevented a TV2Go truck from proceeding up Signal Hill, will be continuing through the night, the Guild local told members today in a communique.
UPDATE: CBC On The Line has this report. Parkdale Pictures has more on the Terry Fox situation, including notes on host Jody Vance.
