A good day to be a Gushue ...
Friday was a good day to be a Gushue, what with the Brad Gushue rink's victory at the Torino Olympics. (It bears repeating that I'm not a direct relation - although I jokingly got plenty of advice to trade on the surname last night on George Street!) It's not an understatement to say Newfoundland and Labrador was taken with the curling final; Anne Budgell and I even did a running commentary on the match during part of the final, while we were otherwise doing the Trivia Crosstalk show on Radio Noon. Accounts from all over the province were similar: people crowded around television sets, wherever they could find them.
You can expect a full house at the airport when the rink gets back in St. John's.
In the meantime, messages to the curlers can posted here.

John, you'll always be my No. 1 Gushue on The Rock.
