I've worked with some creative and talented people over the years, but no one is quite in the league of Chris Brookes. For decades, Chris has been making radio documentaries that are among the finest in the world.
This last week, CBC Radio here in St. John's rebroadcast a piece Chris made last year called The Annotated Jack, which weaves together the old Jack folktales and the story of Jack Wells, one of Chris's neighbours in the Battery. (That's Jack there in the middle.)
The documentary aired on RTE, the Irish broadcaster, last fall. You can listen to the full piece here. Since then, Jack Wells suffered a great loss, when his iconic twine store was battered during a recent storm surge. This site is raising money to help; click here to find out what you can do.
In the meantime, take some time to visit Chris's Battery Radio site. He's a local treasure ... and a national one, to boot.
