When I first saw this GM spot, I stopped in my tracks and watched - mostly to find out what the heck it was. A piano plaintively hitting the notes of He Ain't Heavy, a shot of Popeye falling into the ocean ... and the guys from Animal House.
It turned out to be an ad for GM, which is not only getting its financial house in order, but making sure consumers knew that, too. These are cheeky pop-culture references, even though they're aimed at boomers, who I would guess are more like to be shareholders than prospective buyers. Still, I found it pretty appealing.
