I can hum melodies that John Barry wrote. You can too, I'm sure of it. Born Free, for starters. Though he did not legally compose the James Bond Theme (the courts have ruled that Monty Norman gets the credit), Barry made the theme work, not to mention many bits of Bond music that are deeply embedded in the culture.
