Norman Cook invented Beats International as a DJ-inspired effort after The Housemartins wound up, and what a difference in musical styles. This was the lead single, and prefigured where Cook would later go in various other incarnations, especially the Fatboy Slim persona. The tune features a bassline lifted straight from The Clash's Guns of Brixton and plastered under a remake of the S.O.S. Band's Just Be Good to Me, all with a dub flavour. (It's interesting to see dubstep keeping that flavour fresh for club kids today.)
