Moved by the flooding that has engulfed Stephenville? Want to do something to pitch in?
This Monday, you can.
Come to Step Out for Stephenville, an evening of music, good cheer and goodwill ... and an opportunity to do something for the people of Stephenville.
All proceeds raised will be heading to the Red Cross' Stephenville Appeal.
Join us at Barkley's Lounge in Mount Pearl on Monday, Oct. 3, from 7 p.m. onward. The locked-out employees of the CBC are soliciting the community's support for this effort.
What can you do?
Read more at this page on the site of the St. John's local of the Canadian Media Guild. As you'll see, CBC employees have been contacting corporate and community leaders to pitch in; we're hoping that by Monday evening, something truly substantial will be in place.
Admission is $10. If you can't make it, consider a donation. Directions, again, are on this page.
The night will be packed with music, with Denis Parker, Scott Goudie, Larry Foley, Sandy Morris, Neil Bishop, The Firewires, Mahers Bahers, Pete Soucy, Janet Cull, Glen Downey and Mopaya all on board to perform.
Helping us out as host: Shelagh Rogers, whose lockout caravan will be concluding its cross-country tour in St. John's on Monday. Shelagh jumped at the chance to be part of this event.
