The company that measures what Americans watch on television soon will follow what they record on digital video recorders.
Nielsen Media Research says it is changing its measurement techniques starting next week because the way people watch TV is changing.
New technology in the research firm's meters makes it possible to see what programs are being recorded on DVRs for viewing later.
Nielsen signs up about 9,000 families in its national sampling of TV viewing. The reports of their viewing preferences can help make TV shows into a hit or a flop.
Until now, it has bypassed DVRs in these homes. But starting Dec. 26, it will include programs that families record on DVR.
I'm curious to see how the results change, too. |
We've had a PVR for a few months now and I hanestly don't know how we lived without it!
