Steve Martin and Roz Chast So that's what she looks like ... and sounds like, too. I started reading The New Yorker in the late Seventies and early Eighties, around the same time that Roz Chast's frantic, funny and (yep, that word) neurotic cartoons were showing up. Here's a video from the New Yorker Festival of Steve Martin interviewing Chast about her work. A must for cartooning fans.

Daily Dot: Sunday shopping in N.S. On Oct. 16, 2004, Nova Scotia voters rejected a plebiscite to allow Sunday shopping - to the surprise of those who followed opinion polls on the matter (and who, evidently, didn't bother to vote). The issue became moot earlier this month, when the provincial government collapsed rules that were remarkably clumsy - large supermarkets had to use yellow tape, much like police use at crime scenes, to mark off areas that were closed to consumers...
