The funniest thing I saw last week - heck, over the last few months - was the finale to Stephen Colbert's green-screen challenge, featuring an appearance by one "George L. of Marin County," who made the finals with a mashup of Colbert's hokey original and some Star Wars effects (including Jar Jar Binks on politics). Colbert got a stunning response to his challenge (shortly after it was issued, I wrote a column on Colbert's web-friendly ways; it can be read here); having George Lucas show up with an ILM-backed video, following a stream of Star Wars-inspired bits, was genius.
I loved this exchange:
Colbert: I am obsessed. In fact, I own almost all the Star Wars movies. Do you own those movies, too?
George L: Most of 'em. Episode I, I'm not so sure about.
You can find more bits of the green screen challenge on the Colbert Report site. In the meantime, you can watch the finale here.
I should watch TV more often! At least the Colbert report. That was deliciously funny. Thanks for including the videos.
