Joe Dawson

Hi John, it sounds like you will have an exciting and challenging time ahead. I have had the opportunity to change the type of job I do a few times in my life.

The last time I did a major change was in 2000, and at that time I was given the option of taking a one year leave from my existing job. While I completely agree with that option and think it is the smart choice I didn't take it.

For me at that time I was afraid it would allow me to not fully commit to my new job. I thought it may allow me the comfort of feeling I could jump back to my old job at any time and thus not work as hard as I could on my new job. Based on how things went at the 12 month mark of my new job, I may have jumped back because it took me about three years to really build a strong client base in my new job.

I wish you all the success in the world. I am confident you will do very well in any career path you choose.

All the best,

Joe Dawson

Best of luck in your new endeavor John. Sounds like a great opportunity - one I suspect many of us envy.

Of course, now it's offical - your wife is the boss. (was there any question)

Let us know how things are going. Again, all the best.

How's this for a cbc.ca/nl headline:
