There is a story about Kurt Vonnegut and his son Mark , that goes something like this .Mark as a young boy , had no friends of which his dad (being profoundly anti-social) seemed to think was such a great idea that , he taught Mark to play chess primarly to ensure that he didn't fit in with the locals . There is a quote from Mark in his newest book that "If I had bee raised by wolves , I would have known a little less,but not much less , about how normal people did things " .He says as a child , he had been left alone to figure things out . Some of us actually benefit from that , I did .
