Tea-making has a lot of ritual to it, which can be soothing in and of itself. I love coffee, but the joy of tea, apart from its variety, is in how I need to slow down to make it properly ... and drink it more slowly, too, as it's often hotter than coffee. Tea, especially the oolongs and the Assams, have a calming, effect for me. (That doubles for a good jasmine tea.) I will go to my grave saying that the Rnglish had a major secret weapon in WW2: tea. Rationed, yes, but rationed so everyone could get some.

Orwell's essay 'A Nice Cup of Tea' is a joy to read. http://www.booksatoz.com/witsend/tea/orwell.htm

Sorry, typos ... ditch the comma after 'calming', and 'Rnglish' should be 'English'. Ai.
