First, an appeal for a bit of forgiveness: I didn't quite get my musical advent calendar finished on time this year. (Boo hoo.) You know how it is: stuff piles up. 

Speaking of an appeal, here's a song with that theme. Sting adapted the Victorian tune, normally performed on All Souls Day, to a Christmas setting for If On A Winter's Night, which came out three years ago. (This was our favourite song on the album, with our son showing that the mimicry gene has landed successfully in the next generation.)
